Upendo Women’s Foundation is a dynamic grassroots network of volunteers currently in two continents USA and Africa, empowering girls, women and communities to find sustainable health solutions as well as create income to help sustain some of their needs. Upendo Women’s Foundation is supported by an amazing team of capable people.

njeri5Njeri Thubei – Executive Director and Founder

Njeri has decades of experience in nonprofit organizational leadership, with a strong background in international relations and sustainable community development. She is known for her ability to build teams and empower collaborations.  She is passionate about sustainable global empowerment and grateful to be part of such a direct and effective key to change. She founded Upendo Women’s Foundation (UWF) in April 2013, due to her own personal journey and experience of what she had to go through while growing up.  She feels privileged to serve with the amazing supporters of Upendo Women’s Foundation.

angelaAngela SherwinAssistant Executive Director/Secretary

Angela came to Upendo Women’s Foundation with a strong background in Public Health issues, most recently working  as a Mental Health Counselor. With strong organizational, communication and networking abilities and a passion for women’s issues, she could not be a better fit for UWF. As professional as she is cheerful, she is a delight to work with and we are truly grateful to have her on the team.

angelaBukola OyekanSpecial Events Producer

Bukola V. Oyekan is a writer, producer, and special events coordinator who has worked with nonprofit organizations and social enterprises throughout her career. While working with Upendo, Bukola has helped to develop documentation and media properties in order to help raise awareness to the organization’s ongoing mission.

angelaErrand Zo PhillipSocial Media Director

A desire to bring change to social issues has led Zo to Upendo Women’s Foundation. As Social Media Director, she oversees all social media channels, to build and sustain our digital relationships across the Globe. As a poet and writer, she brings a creative spin and engaging content to our social platforms. A background in customer relations, banking, sales and fashion, has equipped her with the people skills needed to manage our online community, and further our efforts to morph many observers into donors.

angelaGreg KerrChief Technical Officer

Greg is Upendo’s Chief Technical Officer (CTO), bringing the latest green energy and blockchain solutions to the team. Greg is a multi-lingual, seasoned Pentagon analyst and former Marine with two tours in Iraq and three in Afghanistan. Greg left government service yet continued his work in unstable environments around the world. Greg’s company in West Africa constructed seven renewably fuelled off-the-grid energy plants and is a trusted green energy partner with the United States Agency for International Aid (USAID).
Greg also oversees strategic interaction and integrated external institutional communications in addition to managing the public relations. He is responsible for increasing awareness for Upendo Women Foundation’s research, education, and awareness while developing a system-wide proactive communication plan and implementing crisis communication management.

angelaSunny PrasadFinancial Operations Director

Sunny Prasad, is an Enrolled Agent/ Tax accountant and will bring Financial specialties and much needed advice to Upendo. He’s well versed in advising clients on types of business entities to form and ways to protect investments and also save on taxes. He also prepares non-profit information return, accounting and taxes for trust and estates. Sunny has worked for large CPA firms in Fiji such as Deloitte, BDO, and HLB International as an accountant and auditor. His best work memories were of auditing the P. M’s office and flying to smaller islands to audit hotels and resorts.

angelaMaryann MuthoniFinancial Operations Coordinator

Meet Maryann. She serves as a member of executive leadership team and participates in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution. Maryann brings in her expertise in management and vision necessary to ensure that the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

Mumbi Muriuki – International Distribution Director

Mumbi is a talented woman who manages the details of distribution with fun and enthusiasm.  She is very meticulous due to her background in organizing and planning amazing Safaris.  She does all of this as a volunteer, while working as a Partner at Kisima The Safari Company.  We are so privileged to have her on our the team.

Lucy NdeithiInternational Chapter Liaison

Lucy is the woman who helps chapters meet their goals. She focuses on connecting, informing, answering questions and counseling to help the amazing teams and chapter directors of Upendo Women’s Foundation reach more girls and women around the globe. Hers is an important role and she is the strong, capable and kind woman who is equal to the task.

Marsha RugeneMaterial Resource Director

Marsha brings on her nursing experience in menstrual health management to the team. She is dedicated to helping develop solutions for women’s health for communities facing these issues. Her enthusiasm and passion is an enormous force that will be a tool that will help bring sustainable change. We are honored to have her on our team.
